An Eventful Mission Foods NHRA Race Day at New England Dragway Cut Short

Mission Foods NHRA event was shortened by rain postponing the Top Fuel and Funny Car finals until Friday at Bristol Dragway.

Epping NH: In Top Fuel, Shawn Langdon advanced to the final after defeating Doug Kalitta in the semifinals. Langdon posted a 3.755-second pass at 336.74 mph to get past Kalitta’s 3.796 at 284.99 mph. On the other side of the ladder, Leah Pruett earned her spot in the final by defeating Billy Torrence with a 3.770-second run at 331.28 mph over Torrence’s 3.826 at 329.50 mph. Langdon will have lane choice when he faces Pruett next Friday.

Funny Car also completed semifinals before the weather. Jordan Vandergriff secured his place in the finals by defeating JR Todd, posting a 3.982-second pass at 316.52 mph, while Todd had a slow 6.964 at 91.12 mph. In the other semifinal matchup, Jack Beckman edged out Ron Capps in a close race getting a 3.904-second run at 329.75 mph to defeat Capps’ 3.943 at 325.37 mph. The postponed Funny Car final will now feature Vandergriff and Beckman next Friday.

Pro Stock was able to complete its event before the weather arrived. Dallas Glenn capped off a strong weekend by defeating Matt Hartford in the final round. Glenn left first with a near-perfect .002 reaction time and drove to a 6.543-second pass at 209.39 mph, narrowly holding off Hartford’s 6.550 at 209.92 mph. The victory adds another Wally to Glenn’s season as he continues to battle near the top of the Pro Stock standings.

With Pro Stock complete and the nitro categories still unfinished, the remainer of the event will be run on Friday. The Funny Car and Top Fuel final rounds will not be completed in Epping and will instead be contested during the upcoming Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway, June 12-14.
