Thunder in the Mountains 200 on Deck for the NASCAR Tour

N. Woodstock, NH — The Ground-Pounding Stars and Cars of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour are set to invade White Mountain Motorsports Park this Saturday, June 20 for the 2nd annual Thunder in the Mountains 200! Tight championship standings are the story leading into this one with White Mountain proving to be one of the most unpredictable tracks on the NASCAR calendar!
Two time winner Stephen Kopcik leads the NASCAR standings ahead of winless defending champion Austin Beers and fellow two-time winner Jon McKennedy. This will be the fourth visit for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at White Mountain with Doug Coby looking to take his second Modified victory at the highbanked North Woodstock oval. ‘Big Money’ Matt Hirschman is looking to make a statement Saturday with a win to help climb the standings while the two-groove facility could also lean into rookies like Paulie Hartwig Jr. and veterans like McKennedy, Ronnie Williams, Patrick Emerling and Eric Goodale alike!
White Mountain’s track championship divisions are looking to shine on NASCAR Saturday as well. After win number one, 10-time King of the Mountain Quinny Welch has secured a slim two-point lead over Kasey Beattie in the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Model standings. Don’t count out Kyle Goodbout either as all three are sure to put on a show for win number two on Saturday.
The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers have once again put on tremendous racing each and every weekend at White Mountain after Austin ‘AJ’ Sicard took down his first career win by inches over Owen Cheney last Saturday. After battling in the back half of the field, Kyle Willis has had to concede his lead to Shane Sicard and Luke Peters in the standings leaving this week’s 35-lapper up for anyone to take!
The Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Strictly Minis also return with just point leader Jacob Roy and Donnie Baumgardner among the 300-point club. The two have battled through the field each week with Roy still riding high off the opening day win. It’s been a shootout each week so far with Baumgardner, John Knight and Brett Rowell, among others, in the hunt for win number one on Saturday.
The fan-favorite Crown Vic division is also set to run NASCAR Saturday at White Mountain. Opening day winner Frankie Sweeney continues to hold a 12-point lead over Southern New Hampshire journeyman Steve Miller Jr. White Mountain’s newest division has put on some spectacular racing so far this year and Officials expect nothing less this Saturday following the Thunder in the Mountains 200!
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to White Mountain Motorsports Park Saturday, June 20 for the Thunder in the Mountains 200! The Mighty Modifieds of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will pound the ground for 200 laps of racing action alongside the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models, The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Strictly Minis and White Mountain Crown Vics with a Special 5:45pm Post Time.
Grandstands open Saturday at 2:15pm with Adult General Admission set at $40, Kids 6-12 set at $15 and children five and under free. The Family Four Pack (two adults, two kids) is also available for $90.
