Barre, VT – 2000 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Bobby Labonte is ready to make his Thunder Road debut this Thursday, July 9 on NESTN.tv Night at the Nation’s Site of Excitement! The legendary Texan will pilot a car tuned by both Dale and DJ Shaw this Thursday for 100 laps with the Maplefields/Irving Late Models while the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers also take down 100 laps in their 2nd annual Tiger $2K!
The Maplefields/Irving Late Models have been looking forward to the chance to take on another NASCAR legend and they’ll get their chance this week! Justin Prescott has propelled himself ahead of the championship standings and will be one to watch in extra-distance action on Thursday alongside fellow King of the Road hopefuls Jason Corliss, Brandon Gray, Christopher Pelkey and Bobby Therrien.
Labonte is sure to face plenty of difficulty as he moves up the pack but don’t count him out. It may be twenty-six years since his Cup Series championship, the NASCAR Hall of Famer took home a 13th place finish out of twenty-seven cars at Caraway Speedway with the SMART Tour Modifieds this past Saturday.
The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers also run for 100 laps on Thursday with a $2,000 check waiting for the winner in NESTN.tv victory lane! Brendan Moodie’s stand atop the point sheet was finally cemented last Thursday with his last-lap pass to win number one this season. With $2,000 up for grabs this week, Moodie is sure to pull all stops, just like the rest of his competition. Two-time and defending Tiger champion Sam Caron will be back on Thursday for the extra-distance spectacular while veterans Derrick Calkins, Jason Pelkey and Logan Powers are looking for the edge on the likes of Cooper French and Parker Gagne.
Kyle MacAskill’s lead in the rk Miles Street Stock standings has begun to crumble with Brookfield’s Tyler Wheatley now just one point outside the penthouse with young lions Hayden Bushey and Connor Rueda tied together for third overall. As has been the case all season long, this week’s 30-lap NESTN.tv feature will be anyone’s game under the twin checkered flags.
The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also return for Bobby Labonte Night presented by NESTN.tv with scores to settle. While Mike ‘Slingshot’ Slingerland was stealing last week’s feature event, podium chasers Taylor Sayers and ‘Fast Eddie’ Thompson were getting a little chippy in the closing stages. It remains to be seen if they’ve cooled off or if they’re waiting to boil over to end the show this Thursday.
It’s Bobby Labonte Night presented by NESTN.tv at Thunder Road Speedbowl this Thursday, July 9 with the legendary NASCAR Cup Series Champion ready to take on the Maplefields/Irving Late Models for 100 laps. The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers will also make a charge in their $2,000-to-win, 100 lap showdown along with the rk Miles Street Stocks and the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors for a 7:00pm Post Time!
