Thompson, CT — The New England Supermodified Series (NESS) will bring all their Thunder and Lightning to the long straightaways and highbanked corners of the famed Thompson Speedway this Wednesday, July 8 to headline Twisted Tea Winged Wednesday! Their fifth of fourteen planned events in 2026, Twisted Tea Winged Wednesday couldn’t come at a better time for these bad-fast machines and their daring pilots.
Defending series champion Jeffrey Battle continues his hot streak in the winged big block supers with a healthy twenty-two point lead over Dan Bowes. Unfortunately for Battle, Thompson is one of Bowes best tracks with three NESS victories at the 5/8-mile oval already in the books. It’s a similar situation for third-place runner Ben Seitz with two NESS wins and two ISMA wins at Thompson.
In the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, everyone continues to chase Keith Rocco with only Danny Cates as the lone outside winner. Somers’ Todd Owen has been close, finishing second each and every time the Sunoco Modifieds have hit the track with the defending champion looking for the win on Wednesday.
Jake Johnson is in similar territory with the defending champion and current Late Model point leader having yet to finish outside the victory lane podium this year. Both himself and Matt Lowinski-Loh remain the only Late Model winners in three events so far this season.
The SK Light Modifieds have been putting on some consistently stellar racing all summer long at Thompson Speedway with breakout star Kevin Davis leading the standings after two wins this season. May’s big money Wednesday winner RJ Marcotte remains second in the standings after his third-place finish on June 24 followed by John O’Sullivan and Daltin McCarthy tied at the hip for third in the standings.
Warwick, Rhode Island’s Ryan Lineham leads the Street Stock championship chase after taking his first weekly series win of the season less than two weeks ago. The competitive Street Stock class has seen three different winners in as many events so far this season, whose turn will it be on Twisted Tea Winged Wednesday? The Crown Vics also return to Thompson this week for a 20-lap main event!
Twisted Tea Winged Wednesday is set for Wednesday, July 8 complete with a special visit for the New England Supermodified Series! The July midweek showdown on will also feature the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Crown Vics with a 6:00pm Post Time.
