(Butler Township, Pa. 8-25-26) Evergreen Raceway will be back in action this coming Sunday afternoon, August 30 headlined by a pair of extra-distance/extra-paying shows for both the Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks and Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders.
The Street Stocks will be running in the Larry Danko Memorial, which was originally slated for August 16 but was postponed due to rain. Larry had passed away earlier this year, and he has been sadly missed by all who knew him.
Next to track owner and promoter Jason Makarewicz, Larry was the single most valuable asset at Evergreen. For years, he worked diligently alongside Makarewicz as a maintenance worker and groundskeeper.
On race day, Larry would take his seat on the top row of the grandstands and proudly look out across the property, taking in the results of the work he and Jason had done. Then he would relax and enjoy the afternoon races before beginning another week of preparation.
The Street Stock feature will be 40 laps and pay $1000-to-win provided 15 or more cars are signed in.
The Danko family is doing their part too with a wonderful gift basket raffle that is valued at over $500 and includes a Martz Trailways round ticket bus trip to New York City for two. There will be other raffles including lottery boards. All proceeds will go into the purse.
Four Cylinders are also racing for 40-laps in the “Summer Classic” Presented by Himmer Graphics of Lake Areil. The winner’s share is a cool $800.
Other classes running on Sunday will be the Late Models, Rotten-and-Forgotten, East Coast Legends and for the first time this year Factory Stocks which are being run under the North East Factory Stocks group.
Adult grandstand admission is only $15. Kids 12 and under are free. Pits are $40 per person. Warm-ups begin at 12:30 pm and racing starts at 2:00 pm.
