CLAREMONT, NH – Windham, Maine open-wheel star Bobby Timmons III was the big winner Saturday at Claremont Motorsports Park, winning the SMAC Supermodified Energized by USNE 50-lap main event and, with the victory, surging to his first career championship in the fast Supermodified series.
With well over 100 racing teams packing the pits for the first day of the Thrasher Road speedplant’s annual Fall Challenge event, Timmons was one of eleven different drivers earning feature wins at the 79-year-oval’s annual autumn classic.
Hayden Scott scored a $1,000 payday by topping the Outlaw Late Models, Carter Conroy duplicated his September 11 CMP win in the Pure Stocks, and the track’s newly crowned first-ever Crown Vic champion Steve Miller Jr. was victorious again in the cop cars.
Rob RIchardi Jr, the 2026 Pro 4 Modified series champion, stormed to victory Saturday in his 25-lap feature, and Michael Yeaton, a winner many times at the fast third-mile, won the shortened nightcap Six Shooter main event.
Former home track star Haydon Grenier set a new track qualifying record for the SMAC Supermodifieds, soaring around the third-mile in a lightning fast 12.623 seconds, He was one of four drivers topping the 2024 record, with George Helliwell Jr., Brian Robie, and Rusty Poland also eclipsing the previous record mark. Timmons was fifth fastest, and no fewer than eight drivers turned in sub-13-second laps.
Robie and Nick Barzee shared row one as the 18-car SMAC field started Saturday’s 50-lap main event. Robie, flexing his many-time track champion pedigree, jumped all over the opening lead, with Barzee and Timmons, from row two, riding in his shadow. He would hold the top spot for all but one of the first 28 laps.
Blasting to the front in turn three, TImmons then took over and, as Robie’s ride began to fade, previous winner George Helliwell Jr., doing double-duty on the day, charged into second. Timmons, though, would not be denied. Holding the lead for the last 22 laps, the third-generation pilot led Helliwell and Grenier under the checkers. Robie held strong for fourth, and series star Brad Babb raced home fifth.
Justin Harris entered Saturday’s SMAC championship event with a 21-point lead in the 2026 points parade but could do no better than sixth in the double-points season finale, as Timmons used his big CMP score to lock up the championship.
Haydon Scott, no stranger to Country Fuels Victory Lane at CMP, started up front and never looked back en route to victory in the caution-free Outlaw Late Model 50-lap main event. Robbie Streeter, who last month earned his first career Outlaw championship here, kept Scott close for 41 laps but had to settle for third on the day.
Thunder Road strongman Nick Sweet got up for second on lap 42, but Scott held strong to score a three-length victory and, with it, pocket $1,000 for his afternoon’s work. WIth Sweet and Streeter joining him on the podium, Mark Hudson raced home fourth, and Richie Marrocco was fifth. Streeter topped the earlier heat race.
Carter Conroy sat up front in the 24-car Pure Stock starting grid, and that was bad news for the rest of the field. Conroy, who won the final event of the points season a month ago at CMP, started right where he’d left off on September 11.
But while Conroy dominated in this Fall Challenge event, the action behind him was fast and furious. Jeremy Ruggeri, Dylan Zullo and Parker Fowler raced under a blanket in their battle for second, while Michael Yeaton, from way back in 12th was charging forward and Sean Nadeau was making his presence felt.
With Conroy winning in a romp, Nadeau was second under the checkers but hit the tech line with a thud to move Yeaton to the runner-up spot. Chris Chambers, the 2026 CMP champion, and Jimmy Zellman, his 2026 Monadnock counterpart, finished third and fourth, and Fowler was strong in fifth.
Ruggeri, Kyle Begos, Zullo, Dakota Bushey and Tim Taft rounded out the top ten, with most of the huge field expected back in action Sunday on day two of the 2026 CMP Fall Challenge.
Eddie P – Fast Eddie – led the first seven laps of Saturday’s Pro 4 Modified feature but then Rob RIchardi Jr. blasting low into turn one, took over and soared off to victory. With the 2026 Pro 4 series champion adding another victory to his extensive resume, Josh Badach was second on the day,
Craig Phillips finished his solid day’s work in third, Fast Eddie was fourth, and the five spot went to LJ Almari.
Saturday’s Crown Vics were spirited. But, if there was some paint to be traded, and a here-and-there tap exchanged as the field battled for position, Steve Miller Jr. would have none of it. Leading all the way, the 2026 CMP cop car champion was never challenged as he warmed up for the division’s Sunday afternoon return.
With Miller rocketing away to a vast early-race lead, he again pulled away on a lap-16 restart to win with ease, Aaron Thompson was second, and Dave Yardley third.
Jason Hodgdon, Steve Miller Sr., and Steve Miller Jr., battled wheel-to-wheel early in the Six Shooter feature, with Michael Yeaton soon joining the mix as he charged up to third on lap three, second two go-rounds later, and took the top spot for good on lap ten.
The event was declared complete when Hodgdon violently slammed into the turn-four wall on lap 14, with Yeaton awarded the win. Miller Jr. was second, one spot shy of his second win of the day, Ed Beliveau third. CMP Friday night regular Lincoln Herschel finished fourth, and RIchard Miller Sr. was fifth.
George Helliwell Jr. topped the first-ever Dalee Modified CMP feature. Chris Lee was the event runner-up, and early leader Keith Walton raced home third.
The 602 Dirt Modifieds made their annual stop on Thrasher Road Saturday, with Upper Valley star Tanner Siemons scoring the win. Ryan Christian was second, and former CMP Pure Stock ace Keegan Tabor raced home third.
Ricky Sanville topped the Bear Ridge Speedway Sportsman Coupes. Chris Roberts was second under the checkers, and Earl Maxham, victorious in this event a year ago, raced home third. Cooper Hodge was fourth in Saturday’s 25-lapper, and Todd Buckwold finished fifth.
Mark Parmentier of Putnam, CT, aboard his Chevy Corvair entry, won the Senior Tour Auto Racers 15-lap feature. Skip Swiantek, in a ‘37 Chevy Coupe, was second, and Gonic, NH driver Glen Billings brought his 1979 Dodge Daytona home third.
Eighty-something Charlie Lima, a charter member of the STAR series from New Bedford, MA, aboard his ‘37 Judkins Chevy Coupe, topped the STAR Sportsman feature. Anthony Mendoza was second under the checkers, and Londonderry, NH racer Skip Stearns finished third.
