WHITINSVILLE, Mass. – For the fourth time this season, Stan Mertz Racing is heading to the track to battle for the trophy this week. Driver Matt Galko will wheel the No. 6 Koopman Lumber entry in the Bud Light Open Modified 80 at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday, June 10. The 80-lap feature will mark the third race of the season at Stafford for the team, with the first two resulting in top-10 finishes.
Galko finished sixth in the NAPA Spring Sizzler in April, and followed it up with a seventh-place finish in the Call Before You Dig Open Modified 81 on May 20. In the middle of the previous Stafford race and this stop at the half-mile, Woody Pitkat hopped back behind the wheel of the car for a surprise visit to Thunder Road International Speedbowl, where the veteran finished sixth.
This time, Stan Mertz Racing looks to break into the top-five.
“I’m excited to get back to the track with the Stan Mertz Racing team,” Matt Galko said. “We’ve had two solid runs to start the year together, led laps in both and showed that we can run up front. We will take what we have learned so far and go out there and contend for the win on Friday night. I can’t thank Stan and his team enough for the hard work and the opportunity to drive for them this year. We look forward to parking it in Victory Lane on Friday night.”
Practice rounds on Friday at Stafford will begin at 3:45 p.m., while qualifying heat races will take the green flag at 6 p.m. The green flag for the Bud Light Open Modified 80 is set for around 9 p.m., and will air live for those who can’t make it to the track on FloRacing.TV.
