REED AND HIRSCHMAN ARE WALL TURKEY DERBY PAVED MOD WINNERS

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. and Jackson’s Steven Reed were big winners Saturday taking pavement Modified stock car wins in the 49th annual Turkey Derby classic at Wall Stadium Speedway. Hirschman’s Tour Mofieid 150 lap victory earned him $10,000, while Reed’s Wall Modified 100 lap triumph was worth $6,000

In the Tour Modified race Hirschman, Jimmy Blewett, Timmy Solomito and Andrew Krause were in contention most of the way. Blewett pitted for tires near halfway and then began to climb through the field, while Hirschman and the others pitted late in the contest. With less than 18 laps remaining Hirschman tracked down then leader Blewett before making the winning pass on the inside lane on lap 138.

Solomito, Krause, Blewett and Dave Sapienza wrapped up the top five.

Reed was the leader for much of the Wall Mod 100 before Jackson’s Blake Barney slipped into the lead on lap 79. Reed then shadowed Barney the rest of the way before slipping into the lead for the win in the final turn. Hirschman and Krause were also able to get by the fourth place finishing Barney while Blewett crossed the finish line fifth.

In Dirt Modified action Dillon Steuer survived a race long battle with runner-up Krause for the 50-lap win. In the Sportsman 50-lapper, Carsten DiGiantomasso of Jackson beat drving champion Kevin Davison of Howell to the finish.

Rahway’s Billy Both led from start to finish to win the Factory Stock 40-lapper over Howell’s Johnny Carpenter. In Fast 4 Stock action, 2022 champion Sean Vuksanic of Wall wrapped up a great season with a 40-lap win.

Alex McCollum and Joey Braun were victorious to twin Legend Cars races, while Howie Conk ended his season undefeated in the Limited Late Model main event. Ryan Tidman was the winner in TQ Midget action.

Sunday’s third day of Turkey Derby action was rained out.
