Martinsville Va.- Ryan Preece has won his first NASCAR Cup Series pole for the NOCO 400 at Martinsville Speedway.

Going into this season expectations were high for Ryan and his new team, but several wrecks and parts failures have led to a 27th position in point 108 points behind the leader, not where he was expected to be with his #41 Ford.

In qualifying his first lap did not do it, so Ryan said he added front bias for lap 2 and took his Stewart Haas #41 to the top of the charts.

“This is where I won my first Modified race, and the track suits my style.”

“I don’t have a chip on my shoulder but there is frustration with the finishes this year, as a driver and the crew we put in a lot of effort. It can be frustrating with all the work, and we don’t get the results you work so hard for.”

“It’s like I said throughout the year, the clock resets at midnight. We got the pole and must move on to the race.”

Ryan commented in his press conference how good their short track program is and Saturdays qualifying proved his point.

All of the Stewart Haas had strong qualifying runs and the teams will be strong in the race. Stewart Hass has four of the top 7 starting spots. Ryan in the #41 will be on the pole, Aric Almirola #10 starts 3rd, Chase Brisco #14 4th and Kevin Harvick #4 round out the Stewart Haas team in 7th spot.

Ryan will bring todays today’s NOCO 400 to green at a rescheduled time of 3:01 on FS1
