Barre, VT — The Stars and Cars of the American-Canadian Tour are prepped and ready to motor North of the Border once again to take on the fast 3/8-mile Autodrome Montmagny this Saturday, July 22nd. The first of two-consecutive $10,000-to-win events on the ACT schedule, the CAN-AM 200 will pit the best and brightest of New England and Quebec against one another for the prize and a champagne celebration in victory lane!

Still a relatively unknown track to many of the American competitors who were unable to cross the border with last year’s restrictions, the Canadian homebase once again sports a powerful advantage. Already the home of two first-time Serie ACT Quebec winners in 2023, the Quebecois are ready for any challengers. 2022 ACT Rookie of the Year Alexendre Tardif took his first Serie ACT Quebec win on July 8th in the Donald Theetge 2×80 event where he also pocketed over $4,000 in lap money. Along with Tardif, Quebec City’s Dany Gariepy took his first ever Late Model victory in Serie ACT Quebec’s Porsche of Quebec 125 at Montmagny in May.

Just two nights ago another Quebec standout became the first multi-time winner in ACT-sanctioned events at Autodrome Chaudiere’s Beauce Technologies 150. Having already taken May’s Kennebec Dodge Chrysler 250 at Chaudiere in May, Patrick Laperle is now looking to extend his 2023 win total to three! Looking to bounce back from a broken rear-gear at the last American-Canadian Tour show this June, Laperle is looking to be back to his usual self as a major threat in ACT competition.

Another driver looking for more at Autodrome Montmagny is Center Conway, New Hampshire’s D.J. Shaw. The defending champion took third in last year’s edition of the CAN-AM 200 and would love nothing more than to jump up two spots to join Laperle on the list of repeat winners in point-counting competition. Still too is Claude Leclerc 150 winner Jimmy Renfrew Jr. who hopes that his first-time-at-the-track luck will continue in Quebec en route to a $10,000 payday at Montmagny as he, Gabe Brown, Derek Gluchacki and leading rookie Andrew Molleur all look to make up ground on Shaw.

Not out of the question are a few hard-luck drivers from last season’s CAN-AM 200 debut. Derry, New Hampshire’s Erick Sands was having a career day as a top-5 runner last time out before a bone-dry fuel cell cost him the run late in the race. Likewise, Saint-Marc de Richelieu’s Maxime Gauvreau led laps in last season’s edition and has solidified himself as one of Serie ACT Quebec’s top runners. Jonathan Bouvrette is also hoping to overcome last year’s hard wreck with teammate Mathieu Kingsbury for a trip to victory lane on Saturday.

Along with fellow American-Canadian Tour championship chasers Bryan Wall, Jr. and Tanner Woodard, defending CAN-AM 200 champion Raphael Lessard and teammate William Larue are both entered for Saturday’s event as is Kingsbury and Lanoraie, Quebec’s Claude Leclerc.

The American-Canadian Tour heads north of the border once again for the CAN-AM 200 at Autodrome Montmagny on Saturday, July 22nd. One of the richest events of the 2023 season, including a guaranteed $10,000 check waiting for the victor, the CAN-AM 200 will pit the best of New England against the best of Quebec on one of Canada’s fastest ovals! For those that can’t make the trip, the CAN-AM 200 feature event will be streamed live on Racing America!
