Big Series 3 races and 20th annual salute to the past at Orange County Fair Speedway
MIDDLETOWN, NY (May 25)……..Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York roars back into action Sunday, June 7 when Escape Power Sports presents a full program of Big Series 3 races featuring DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Tri-State Dry Wall Sportsman, and Interstate Batteries of Southern New York Street Stocks on the big five-eighths-mile clay speedway. In addition it’s also the 20th Annual Doug Dulgarian’s Nostalgia Night, welcoming back former competitors for an afternoon and evening reminiscence, autograph signing, and remembering the older drivers and race cars.
As in past years, upwards of 70 former Orange County competitors are expected to be joining the festivities. Among those indicating they’ll be attending are former track champions Jerry Higbie, Rich Eurich, Brett Hearn, Tim Hindley, Jerry Wilson, and Chuck McKee. Other fan favorites expected are Gary Balough, Tighe Scott, Larry Brolsma, Del George, Richie Smith, LeRoy Amy, and many more.
On Nostalgia Night, the speedway pits, stands, and unique Drive-In will open at 2:00 pm. Nostalgia Night driver autographs will take place between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Race cars will be on the speedway at 4:45 pm, with the evening’s first race taking the green flag at 6:00 pm. Following qualifying, the Modified feature will be held first.
“Each year Doug has done a fabulous job with Nostalgia Night,” says Big Series 3 co-promoter Brett Hearn. “It really is a true Racing Family Reunion, with fans and Orange County former competitors enjoying renewing friendships, telling racing stories, and looking over the historic and tribute older race cars. When I was racing, I always enjoyed this night, even more if I also had a good outing on the track.”
Fans can expected a fast-paced program without any extended breaks. Qualifying races for the Modifieds and Sportsman are eight laps, six laps for the Street Stocks. The feature races are 30 laps Modifieds, 20 laps Sportsman, and 15 laps Street Stocks.”
On race day, Sunday, June 7, General admission Adults $20 stands or Drive-In, Seniors $15, Children 12 and under $5. Party Deck $30 each minimum of two. Parking on the grounds is free. Drive-In parking $5. Pit passes $35. A Nostalgia Night poster will be available for fans to collect autographs from their favorite drivers.
