Thompson, CT — Wednesday night specials return to Thompson Speedway this week with the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds and the SK Light Modifieds taking center stage! The Sunoco Modifieds will motor for 50 laps around the Thompson highbanks with a $5,000 winner’s share on the line while the SK Lights get bumped up to a 30 lap special with $1,000 going to the winner along with Late Model, Street Stock and Crown Vic action!
After starting off with a clean sweep of the two Icebreaker features, former track and Connecticut state champion Keith Rocco leads the standings by 14 points over defending Thompson Sunoco Modified champion Todd Owen. The two put on the best battle of the 52nd Icebreaker weekend and with 50 laps on the board this Wednesday, there’s sure to be plenty of paint swapped for the $5,000 winner’s check.
The SK Light Modifieds will also battle in an extra-distance, extra-purse special with Somers, Connecticut’s Kevin Davis looking to cash the $1,000 winner’s check and make it two-for-two in SK Light competition. Fellow youngster Milania Shilosky and veteran Danny Gamache, Jr. will also be looking to continue their early season momentum while longtime stalwarts John O’Sullivan, Daltin McCarthy and Gerard Giordano will be looking to bounce back into the track championship fold on Wednesday.
After Matt Lowinski-Loh spanked the Late Model field at the Icebreaker, defending champion and current Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour runner-up Jake Johnson will be leading those looking to make a statement on Wednesday. Johnson and fellow former champion Brian Tagg have buried their heads in the set-up book in preparation for the first midweek showdown and will be looking for redemption.
Speaking of redemption, Ryan Lineham, George Baldwin, Al Stone III and defending champion ‘Leadfoot’ Larry Barnett are all looking to make it a better day this Wednesday after Austin Erickson ran away with the Icebreaker Street Stock win. Everyone has something to prove this Wednesday, even those in the non-point Thunderstock Crown Vics!
Thompson Speedway roars back to life this Wednesday, May 13 for the Midweek Modified Madness extra-purse, extra-distance specials for both the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds and SK Light Modifieds. The Late Models, Street Stocks and Thunderstock Crown Vics pile in for a five-division showdown to kick off Midweek racing at the famed 5/8-mile Thompson Speedway with a 6:00pm Post Time. Grandstands open at 4:00pm and General Admission for adults is available for just $25, kids 12-6 are $10 with children five and under free!
