Winchester, NH- It all comes down to this Saturday night at Monadnock Speedway as the Open Modifieds compete in the Tri-Race Dash For Cash 100 season finale, which could be worth well over $15,000 to the feature winner, including purse, point fund and more than $10,000 in additional bonus money just added.
After two events, two standout drivers are tied for the points lead, which could add another $5,000 to the $10,000 winner’s prize this weekend. Brian Robie from Sunapee and Matt Kimball of Bennington are tied at 96 points apiece, with Brett Meservey from Brewster, Mass., just 12 points back. Robie has finishes of first and third, while Kimball has crossed the line second in both the June and July Open Modified races.
“It’s one of the biggest paying races that we’ve been a part of, more than I have ever raced for before,” Kimball said. “Obviously we have our eyes on the $5,000 points bonus, but our first goal going in is to win the race. If you win the race, everything comes with it. We are going to approach it the same way as the other two races. We have had one of the cars to beat every time out, so we’re not going to approach it any differently.”
If Kimball wins, he is guaranteed a minimum of $15,700 including bonuses, thanks to becoming eligible for the Highest Finishing Father award just last week, with the birth of his son Beau. A victory for Robie would pay him at least $15,400.
Robie will do the same and prepare with victory being the goal, but to win the race they will have to beat some of the best drivers in the region, most notably July winner Ron Silk, who drove from tenth place following a pit stop for tires, passing Kimball for the lead during lap 82, on his way to an impressive victory.
Other contenders in Saturday’s field who have confirmed their intentions to compete early are Brett Meservey, Kyle Bonsignore, Anthony Nocella and Chris Pasteryak to name a few. Weekly Monadnock drivers Tyler Learly and Eddie Gomarlo have their eye on the prize, and also the $12,000 point fund payout, as they look for success on their home track. The entry list is growing, with drivers registering daily for an event with a total purse of more than $50,000.
The base purse was increased to $1276 to take the green through a commitment from The Racing Guys and R. Smith Oil. The Modified Racing Series has added bonus money for their teams.
There is a long list of bonus money incentives, especially for drivers who are able to race in the top 10 during the event. Laps 57 and 71 alone will pay out $1,510 in prize money, with other opportunities coming to heat race winners and the hard charger to name just two bonuses.
The Open Modified Dash For The Cash 100 at Monadnock Speedway, located on Route 10 in southwest New Hampshire is just days away. The action begins on Saturday at 6 p.m. with qualifying heat races for all divisions, including the Open Modifieds.
Joining them will be the Twin State Truck Services Limited Late Models, the Keene Towing & Recovery Mini Stocks, Brattleboro Towing & Recovery Pure Stocks, the Doug’s Auto Body Young Guns and the visiting New England Dwarf Car Series. There is a rain date of Sunday at 2 p.m. if the forecast of a beautiful Saturday night happens to change.
Admission pricing is $30 for Adults and kids aged 13 and up, $25 for Seniors over 65 and Military members with ID, $10 for kids aged 6-12, with children under 6 admitted FREE.
