Wall Township, NJ – Howell, NJ’s Kevin Davison and Mayetta, NJ’s Tyler Truex were big winners in NASCAR Sportsman Twin 35 lap races in the Accurate Tree Service NASCAR Sportsman at Wall Stadium on Saturday night.
Davison earned $2,200 for his win in the first feature while Truex pocketed $2,200 for his win plus a $1,000 bonus for the best overall finish in the two races. Each driver also won purse money from their finishing positions in the main event they did not win. Sponsors North American Construction, Accurate Tree Service and Hamer Heating Cooling and Refrigeration added bonus money to the race purse.
In the first Accurate Tree Service NASCAR Sportsman 35 lap race Kevin Davison wasted little time in racing into the lead charging to the front on a lap three restart. Davison held his ground from that point on as Rahway’s Billy Both hounded him every lap to the finish. Truex, Neil Rutt III of Toms River and Zach Lenardo wrapped up the top five.
“The car was fast in this race and I have a great team behind me,” Davison said. “I have a long list of sponsors and I couldn’t do this without them. For me, auto racing is truly a team sport.”
In the second Accurate Tree Service NASCAR Sportsman 35 lap race Quinn Trimmer of Waldwick was the early leader before Brick’s Ryan Kuhlthau slipped into the lead on the inside lane on lap five. Kuhlthau held the top spot over Toms River’s Neil Rutt III until the duo tangled and crashed hard into the fourth turn guardrail on a lap 24 restart.
Micah Adams then grabbed the top spot before Billy Both throttled into the lead with Truex following him through into second. This duo then battled until a lap 33 caution slowed the test and Truex slipped into the lead and then on to the win over Both. Lenardo, Adams and Trimmer were third through fifth.
“I used up Billy Both on that last restart, but I didn’t want to do that,” Truex said. “I don’t race that way and I apologize to him for that. The King family gave me a fast hot rod tonight. I always jump at the chance to drive this car whenever they offer it to me. All the prize money will go back into the car.”
Patrick Force of Little Egg Harbor, NJ grabbed his first ever O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock 25 lap win with a daring last lap pass. Alex Rogers of Forked River, NJ took the lead at the outset and held the top spot up until a lap 24 caution. On the restart former dirt track racer Force dove to the inside lane and then on to the main event win. Elliott Wohl of Beachwood, NJ also slipped through for second with Rogers crossing the finish line third. Nick Bilello and Johnny Carpenter, both of Howell, NJ, were fourth and fifth.
Cory Carr of Freehold, NJ was another first time Wall Stadium winner in the 25 lapper for the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder cars. Carr jumped to the lead at the green flag and led the non-stock race from start to finish, Defending champion TJ Graves of Wall was the challenging runner-up, while Doug Ashford, Neil Rutt III and Stephen Forgus completed the top five.
West Milford, NJ’s Mike Alcaro keeps racking up the wins as he earned his seventh victory of the season in 25 lap Natural Design Co. Legend Cars main event over Jack Gerzabek of Springfield, PA. Joe Parker Jr, Thomas Schwarz and AJ Wright were third through fifth.
Joey Payne of Brick, NJ led the 25 lap race for the touring ATQMRA TQ Midgets from start to finish to grab the main event victory. Joey Bailey, Kyle Taraska, Ryan Tidman and Blake Barney were second through fifth.
Wall Stadium will return to action this Saturday night, September 12. The NASCAR Modified cars return to the spotlight as they compete in Twin 35 lap main events with the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks, Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder cars and the visiting Dirt Track Outlaw Stocks also in action. Qualifying is at 6:00pm. with main events starting at 7:30pm.
Adult (18+) admission is $30, Seniors, & Military w/ID are $25, Kids (7-17) are $15 with Kids 6 & Under being free.
