Wall Township, NJ – Howell, NJ’s Jimmy Blewett came into the Halloween Havoc 100 at Wall Stadium presented by NAPA and VanWickle Auto Supply with an outside shot stealing the NASCAR Modified title away. Blewett did all that he could do by taking the 100-lap double points finale for his second win of the season but would come up short for the crown as Jackson, NJ ‘s Steven Reed wrapped up his fourth career Wall Stadium Modified title with a fifth place finish.

Mayetta, NJ’s Tyler Truex jumped to the lead early with Jimmy Blewett quickly taking over second. Truex and Blewett wrestled for the first ten laps before Blewett powered to the lead with Blake Barney, the point leader going into the final regular season feature event, charging into second.

Barney then chased Blewett knowing that finishing higher than Reed would secure the crown. Barney’s title winning dream then evaporated on lap 46 when his car slowed and spun with a sour motor. A bent push rod knocked Barney from the event on the race’s only caution.

The final 54 laps went off without a hitch as James Blewett of Howell, NJ advanced to second and chased his father to the finish line. Jackson, NJ’s Kyle Scisco earned the Hard Charger award while finishing third and Truex finished fourth. Reed’s fifth place finish secured the driving title.

“We’ve worked real hard on this car this season and it really came together tonight,” Blewett said. “Rob Ormsbee, Billy Cole, Jeff Lane and I got together, worked hard and it really turned out well. It was also a lot of fun winning with my son right behind me.”

Reed was thrilled with his fourth crown, his first under the NASCAR banner.

“All four titles are special to me and this team,” Reed said. “I’m happy for my mom and dad, our sponsors and everyone who helps. I feel bad for Blake having trouble like that in the last race. I know the feeling. It has happened to me before.”

Sixteen-year-old Matthew Kovacs of Forked River, NJ jumped to the lead on lap two with an outside lane pass on Jonathan Mandato and then raced on to his career first victory in the Accurate Tree Service NASCAR Sportsman main event. Meanwhile, the race within the race for the division’s driving title saw contenders Kevin Davison of Howell, NJ, Billy Both of Rahway, NJ and Zach Lenardo of Edison, NJ wrestling in a tight pack most of the way.

After 30 laps Kovacs was chased across the finish line by runner up Steve Whitt of Forked River, NJ and Davison who clinched his sixth title. Lenardo, Howell, NJ’s Ryan Kuhlthau and Both wrapped up the top six.

Nick Bilello of Howell, NJ fought off runner-up Jared Okerson of Freehold, NJ to win his career second main event in the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock 30 lap feature race. Chris Lane and Elliot Wohl were in the thick of the battle before finishing third and fourth. On the strength of five wins and a fifth place finish in the regular season finale, Howell, NJ’s Johnny Carpenter won the Factory Stock title.

Doug Ashford of Jackson, NJ left no doubt in the battle for the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stock driving crown as he raced to the 30-lap victory to nail down his first driving title. Ashford took the lead near halfway and then fought off Billy Pross to the finish. Kevin Carr, TJ Graves and Cory Carr were third through fifth.

Like Ashford, Mike Alcaro of Newton, NJ won his Natural Design Co. INEX Legend Car title convincingly by winning the night’s 30 lap main event. Lars Wilson, Thomas Schwarz, Chevy Rommeney and Justin Emmons Jr. completed the top five.

In just his second start, Tyler Truex won the 30 lap ATQMRA TQ Midget main event over fellow Modified racer Blake Barney. Joey Payne and Tyler Wagner were third and fourth while Kyle Taraska celebrated his newly claimed title by finishing fifth.
