Barre, VT – Thirty-nine Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour / Maplefields Convenience Late Models entered the Thunder Road pit area Saturday morning with all looking to race their way into Sunday’s 64th running of the Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank. While ACT standout Erick Sands was unable to run time trials with a totaled rear-end leaving thirty-eight others to try their best. In the end, 2024 King of the Road and current number two point man on the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour Kaiden Fisher earned the $1,000 Booth Bros./HP Hood Pole Award with a time of 12.098-seconds, breaking the previous 12.107 track record set by Nick Sweet back in 2021.

The fast-times set a pair of 50-lap qualifying heat races with ten cars joining Fisher and outside-polesitter Jason Corliss on Sunday’s Milk Bowl grid. Brandon Gray beat Gabe Brown to the line to win the first qualifier and the $1,000 winner’s share while Raphael Lessard quickly returned to race shape at the Nation’s Site of Excitement to win the second Booth Bros./Hood Milk Twin 50 qualifier.

The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks both completed their own group time trial efforts with Hayden Morris earning the Street Stock pole position for Segment #1 and Sam Caron leading the Tigers to green in their first 40-lap segment. Caron showed the way early but was overtaken by Brendan Moodie by the halfway point to their green-to-checkered, caution-free opening round. Moodie carried the Segment One checkers over Cameron Ouellette and Luke Peters at the line but Peters was later disqualified in post-race inspection with an unapproved steering box. Jason Woodard moved up to third in the final tally with Caron and Logan Powers rounding out the top five.

It was a similar story in the drama-free first segment of the Street Stock Mini Milk Bowl. Hayden Morris ran away with the lead from the onset while part-timer Erik Steel surprised the field was a fourth-place qualifying effort that led to a strong runner-up finish in the first 25-lap segment. Connor Rueda kept his nose clean out front to take third over top rookie Riley Morris. Howard Stockwell’s apparent fifth-place run was disallowed with a post-race weight infraction, giving fifth to Tyler Whittemore. All five will have just 25-laps to come from the back tomorrow in hopes of taking a Mini Milk Bowl win.

The New England Supermodified Series returned for the second time in 2026. It was lights out for Massachuesetts hot-shoe Matt Swanson from the drop of the green flag with the Harvard-native taking the 50-lap win over Dan Bowes and point-leader Jeffrey Battle. The NELCAR Legends also returned to Milk Bowl weekend with David Stone III taking the win over Trevor Randlett and Jake Kelly.

After a fairly clean first segment, the Crown Vic division was all in for the final 20-lap segment with low-point leaders Cody Benoit, Trevor Jaques and Mike Slingerland stuck fighting from the back of the pack. Nate Steady was Milk Bowl week’s first victim of the widowmaker with a highwide move in turn four while Mini Milk Bowl leader Cody Benoit ended his run for the cup with a turn three wall smack with Josh Muir. From then on it was a title fight between brothers Chase and Jaret Curtis. Jaret’s #33 led brother Chase’s #88 with both tied at six points under the checkered flag. Jaret’s better finish in the second, and final, segment broke the tie and made the Rutland, Massachusetts traveler a Mini Milk Bowl champion!

The 64th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank will take the green flag at 1:30pm tomorrow, Sunday, October 4 at the Nation’s Site of Excitement. The local Maplefields/Irving Late Models will take on all Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour invaders in the Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America with a $105,000 purse on the line and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to Kiss the Cow! Sunday’s action starts at 12:15pm with the Last Chance B-Feature prior to opening ceremonies at 12:40pm.

Grandstands open at 9:45am Sunday with Adult General Admission set at $35, Kids 6-12 are $10 and Children five and under are free!
