WESTMINSTER, Mass. – For the first time since July of 2021, Sam Rameau is ready to roll into a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race this weekend. Rameau will compete in the inaugural Granite State Derby presented by USA Insulations, the fourth race of the Whelen Modified Tour season, and first promoted by JDV Productions, on Saturday, May 21.
Rameau is coming off quite the impressive start to the racing season at Monadnock Speedway on April 30 and May 1, where he finished second in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track race and the Whitcomb 5 Series event. Even though he hasn’t been with the Whelen Modified Tour in a while, he isn’t worried. Rameau won the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award on the tour in 2019, and has five top-10 finishes in his NASCAR career.
“My team and I are very excited to get back to Lee USA Speedway with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this Saturday,” Rameau said. “We’ve had success at Lee racing Modifieds in the past and we have great hopes that it will happen again in the Granite State Derby. All in all, we’re just excited to finally get back on the Tour. I can’t thank all of my guys and girls who make it happen, sponsors, supporters and everyone else for their hard work.”
The schedule for the Granite State Derby presented by USA Insulation includes one Whelen Modified Tour practice session from 1:40-2:40 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The drop of the green flag in the 175-lap race is scheduled for 7 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to the track. Tickets are available in advance at JDVProductions.com and will also be available at the track on race day.
