15TH “WORKING MAN’S RACE” SET FOR OCT. 6-7 AT AFTON MOTORSPORTS PARK

AFTON, NY – No. 15.

Launched in 2006 as the first-ever event promoted by Brett Deyo at Afton Motorsports Park, the American Racer Cup Short Track SuperNationals celebrates its 15th running this Columbus Day weekend with two days of racing set for Friday-Saturday Oct. 6-7.

The “Working Man’s Race” again is headlined by the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco big-block/small-block Modifieds in a 50-lap event paying $5,500 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $500 to take the green flag. The Short Track SuperNationals serves as a non-points-paying River Valley Builders North Region program.

Saturday (Oct. 7) is headlined by the STSS Modified 50-lap event, which has produced 14 different winners in the previous 14 editions as a BD Motorsports Media LLC event.

Also on the Saturday program are the American Racer Cup Modified One-on-One Match races ($2,000 to win, open to American Racer Cup track champions), STSS Crate 602 Sportsman in the STSS Precision Hydraulic & Oil North Region championship round, Four Cylinders (Afton Motorsports Park rules) and the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Racing Series.

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with grandstand gates unlocked at 3 p.m. Hot laps get underway at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 6 p.m.

Saturday grandstand admission is $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), $10 for Kids (ages 9-14) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $45 for ages 13 and up, $15 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $5 for Children ages 5 and under.

On Friday night (Oct. 6), Crate 602 Sportsman race 30 laps for $1,500 to win ($2,000 with “Gambler’s Fee” posted) in addition to American Racer Cup Sportsman One-on-One Match Races ($1,000 to win, open to American Racer Cup track champions), CRSA Sprint Cars, Limited Sportsman, Factory Stocks and STSS Modified open practice (two drivers locked into the redraw for Saturday).

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Friday, with grandstand gates unlocked at 4 p.m., hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

Friday grandstand admission is $15 for Adults, $13 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), $5 for Kids (ages 9-14) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Friday pit admission is $40 for ages 13 and up, $10 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children ages 5 and under.

Weekend passes are available for American Racer Cup Short Track SuperNationals 15.

Grandstand weekend passes cost $35 for Adults, $30 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), $15 for Kids (ages 9-14) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit area weekend passes cost $80 (ages 13 and up), $25 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $7 for Children ages 5 and under.
