A tradition started by Mike Van Houten Jr. 7 years ago continues in 2023. Once again Mike and friends will deliver a mountain of toys and home goods to the Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park NY.

Seven years ago, Mike started a tradition that grows larger every year. In the fall he starts collecting children’s toys to deliver at Christmas time to the children at Ronald McDonald House. In the past 6 years Mike has collected and delivered over $40,000.00 of toys and home goods benefiting this wonderful charity.

I spoke to mike at the Islip 300 a few weeks ago and he was already collecting for this holiday. This year he has joined forces with Buzz Chew Chevy/Cadilac to make the 2023 toy drive bigger and better. The next 2 Saturdays Dec. 2nd & Dec. 9th Mike will be at Buzz Chew Chevrolet 656 Old County Road in Southhampton from 10am-5pm. He invites everyone down to bring unwrapped toys & home goods.

Mike’s 3v CamoCoupe INEX Legends car will be on display in the Buzz Chew showroom the entire week between the two collections days. Stop by to drop off a toy to brighten a child’s holiday. Michael will deliver all the presents to the Ronald McDonald House on December 18th from 7:00- 8:00PM.

Mike wanted to thank all those that have helped him put this wonderful event together. From Buzz Chew Chevrolet staff, he wanted to thank Marilyn, Bryon, Michael & of course Buzz himself. He also wanted to thank WLNG 92.1 in Sag Harbor for giving the event airtime. Mike especially wanted to thank everyone who has donated over the years, without them this event could not shine like it does.

About Ronald McDonald House: The founders of the first Ronald McDonald House believed that no child should face the weight of illness alone and designed programs that keep families near each other and the medical care they need.

The Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park was the 100th house in the system and opened with 18 rooms on September 29, 1986. Since that day, the House has expanded to 42 bedrooms, eight kitchens—including two Kosher kitchens—laundry facilities, a library, and numerous indoor and outdoor spaces where families come together as a community.

About Mike V Ride: Mike’ 3V has been a fixture in the INEX Legends division car for 11 seasons at Riverhead Raceway. Mike is out there on the high banked 1/4-mile oval competing with 30-40 cars every Saturday night from Spring until Fall. In 2023 Mike finished 10th in points.
