(Rougemont, NC) After a 2-year hiatus from Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC the ZMax CARS tour is set to return to the 3/8-mile track on Saturday for the running of the Orange Blossom 250.

The race will consist of 125 lap late model stock feature, 100 laps for the pro late models and a 25-lap race for the VA mini cups

Heading into Orange County, the season has been ultra-competitive with three different winners in three races after Bobby McCarthy took the most recent event last weekend at New River All American Speedway.

McCarty has to be one of the favorites for the Late Model Stock win considering he has won at OCS in the past and on the heels of his 3rd place run a few weeks ago in the Orange Krush 200 held to benefit the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation

“This is what we used to do a couple of years ago,” McCarty said after his win on Saturday. “I’m pumped-up man. Like, our worst races are still top-5s. We get involved in a crash at Kenly and thrash on it and get a top-10. We win tonight. Those top-10s are how you win the championship and that’s all the things we were doing in the Nelson car.”

Other former winners at OCS include local favorites Deac McCaskill and Layne Riggs, who will be driving a Kevin Harvick Inc prepared car in his off weekend from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Possibly the biggest surprise so far in 2024 is the performance of youngster Treyten Lapcevich. The Canadian driver who won the NASCAR Pinty’s championship last season currently sits 4th in points and has quietly recorded three top-10 finishes in his new ride at Chad Bryant Racing.

Others to watch include part-time NASCAR driver, Kaden Honeycutt, who won the Orange Krush race and 2023 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts national champion Connor Hall driving for Nelson Motorsports. Hall is the current points leader and though winless to this point in the season has been in contention for the checkered flag each week.

So far Kyle Campbell has dominated victory lane in the Pro Late Models, winning both races and leading the majority of the laps in securing his spot at the top of the points standings heading to OCS.

Don’t be surprised if Campbell gets stiff competition from Kaden Honeycutt who is doing double-duty on Saturday and defending series champion Caden Kvapil. Both drivers have shown speed in the past at OCS and are eager to get back in victory lane.

Another driver to watch is New Hampshire native, Jimmy Renfrew Jr, who made quite a name for himself at New Smyrna Speedway in February by placing 3rd in points during Speedweeks and has shown speed in previous ZMAX Cars Tour starts.

There are currently 31 cars entered in the Late Model Stock race and 22 on the pre-entry list for the Pro Late Models.

The green flag for the Orange Blossom 250 zMAX CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour is set to wave over the Pro Late Model field at 7 p.m. ET, with FloRacing providing coverage of LMSC qualifying beginning at 4 p.m. The racing program also includes 25 laps of racing for the Virginia Mini Cup cars in between the100-lap Pro Late Model and 125-lap zMAX CARS Late Model Stock Car features. All feature races will be televised by FloRacing and a fan-fest will take place at 5:15 p.m. behind the main grandstand.
