WALL, NJ ~ After the fans in the grandstand crowded into the pit area to meet the race teams and look at the cars up close, Derek Hopkinson (Modified), Rob Anderton (Factory Stocks) and Kevin Davison (Sportsman) were big stock car winners at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night.

Milltown’s Hopkinson rocketed to the lead at the outset of the non-stop 40 lap race as Jackson’s Steven Reed shadowed him every lap through and past the half way mark. Later in the race Hopkinson, the defending Modified champion, enjoyed some breathing room as Reed was forced to fight off a hard charging Kyle Scisco of Jackson for second. Holmdel’s Andrew Krause and Manahawkin’s Jake Nelke were fourth and fifth.

After his father Bob Anderton of Howell led most of the race, Rob Anderton, also of Howell, raced to victory in the special 75 lap race for the Factory Stocks. Shanon Mongeau of Island Heights, Manchester’s Scott Riggleman, Bob Anderton and Freehold’s Jared Okerson, who all raced in contention during the event, were second through fifth.

Kevin Davison of Howell jumped to the lead early and endured several challenges and a 30 minute red flag to repair the guard rail after newcomer Branden Sullivan slammed the barrier in turn two, to win the 50-lapper for the Sportsman car. Ricky Collins of Willow Grove, Pa. offered late race challenges before finishing second, with Hazlet’s Chris Silvestri, Jonathan Laureigh of Lanoka Harbor and Rahway’s Billy Both wrapped up the top five.

Howell’s Ryan Kulthau celebrated his birthday a day early by winning the Legend Cars 25-lapper. Jack Gerzabek, Anthony Marsh, Mike Alcaro and Bryan Gardella wrapped up the first five.

The ageless Rick Giannino of Bay Shore, NY won the 25 lap race for the Limited Late Model cars over Mike Tillett, Brian Doyle, Pat Brown and James Moorman.

Tyler Wagner of Chester grabbed his first ever Wall Stadium win in 25 lap action for the touring TQ Midgets over Buddy Sload, Tyler Ferris, Josh Patterson and Anthony Seseley.

The 2024 Wall Stadium Speedway season continues on Saturday night, September 21, with the Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Sportsman, Fast 4 cars and Limited Late Models in competition. Qualifying is at 5:15 p.m. with main events starting at 7:00 p.m.
