(Butler Township, Pa. 6-14-26) A hot and humid Sunday afternoon greeted racers and fans at Evergreen Raceway and with threatening weather looming in the distance, track officials knew they had to keep the program moving and did just that as four divisions were completed before the raindrops arrived.
The 602 Crate Modified feature saw Marty Knoll’s No. 46 lead the field to green and pace the opening laps. Micah Adams stayed glued to Knoll’s rear bumper before making the winning pass on lap five.
Once out front, Adams was flawless, pulling away from the field for the victory. An early incident sidelined Steve Schultz’s No. 25 machine, while Bobby Jones and Brian Sones entertained the crowd with a lengthy side-by-side battle throughout much of the 30-lap contest. At the finish, Adams collected the checkered flag ahead of Sones and Jones.
The Harry’s U-Pull-It Street Stocks provided another exciting battle as Paul Frantz jumped to the lead from the pole position.
Bobby Kibler Jr., quickly worked his way forward from third and engaged Frantz in a fierce bumper-to-bumper duel. Kibler eventually wrestled away the lead and never looked back.
Mike Pollack later joined the fight, applying heavy pressure to the rear bumper of Kibler’s No. 18 machine, but Kibler was not to be denied, and he drove on to capture the 25-lap feature over Pollack and Scott Adams.
In the Himmer Graphics Four-Cylinder feature Jacob Knittle started from the pole and led the opening laps before Tyler Skordensky found a way around the No. 93 machine.
Once in front, Skordensky checked out on the field while Jared Fry moved into second on lap six. At the finish it was Skordensky taking his first victory with the class over Fry, Knittle and Robert McNulty.
A feature-only event for the East Coast 3/4 Midget division saw 15 competitors take the green in what quickly became a high-speed chess match around the tight oval.
Jasper Ziegenfuss led the early circuits before Josh Patterson charged from the eighth starting position to take command. Tyler Wagner then entered the picture, slicing through the field from tenth and challenging Patterson by lap nine. The action came to a halt when Steve Craig suffered a wild flip, bringing out the red flag.
Following the restart, Patterson and Wagner put on a thrilling battle for the lead. Another red flag flew on lap 11 when Don Zirinski’s No. 75 bicycled and overturned in turn one. Once racing resumed, Wagner tracked down Patterson and made the winning move to secure the top spot.
Jacob Schultz completed the podium finish in third.
Track officials wrapped up the entire racing program shortly after 4:00 p.m., and their sense of urgency proved perfect as rain began falling just moments after the final checkered flag.
