(Butler Township, Pa. 10-23-26) When the 25th Annual King of the Green takes place on Sunday, November 1 at Evergreen Raceway, there will be plenty of on-track action with Tour Type Modifieds, Late Models, Four Cylinders and Rotten-and-Forgotten.
Also taking part in the marquee event at the 1/3-mile paved oval located in St. Johns, Butler Township, are the Factory Stocks.
Although no longer a weekly division, one thing that track owner/promoter Jason Makarewicz has always made certain of is that the Factory Stocks are part of the King of the Green.
“This is a division that is near and dear to me, it’s the class that myself and my brother Kevin started in here at Evergreen,” said Makarewicz.
“So even though we no longer run the class, we still enjoy putting them on for King of the Green and they will be part of a great line-up for Sunday’s races.”
Beginning in 2000 and with the exception of 2004 and 2024, the Factory Stocks have run during King of the Green. Mike Odwazny was the first King of the Green winner and only three drivers have won multiple King of the Green for the Factory Stocks, Paul Morgan Jr. in 2011 & ’12, Gerald Lawrence in 2017, ’18 and ’22 and Jarod Hayes who won the race in 2023 and again last year.
Of the drivers that have thus far registered, a surprise entrant is 2019 King of the Green winner and 2020 track champion Stephanie Peters who will be behind the wheel of the same car she won her championship in. The car is currently the No. 22 of Sara Derr who is turning the driving chores over the Peters for the race.
Peters, who works of the NASCAR Haas Factory Team, will be heading up to Evergreen from Mooresville, NC and is looking forward to making her return to racing at Evergreen.
The King of the Green takes place on Sunday afternoon, November 1 starting at 2:00 pm. Along with the Factory Stocks will be the Tour Type Modifieds, the DW Machine & Fabrication Company Late Model 100 that will be paying $8000-to-win and will be $10,000 if 30 or more cars are signed in on race day.
Also, the Barbush Auto Sales Four Cylinders and Rotten-and-Forgotten. The Four Cylinder feature will pay $800-to-win and $200 to-take-the green if 30 or more cars are signed-in.
All drivers can save money by pre-registering by Monday, October 26. Registration forms can be found on the track’s website.
An open practice will be held the day prior, Saturday October 31 from noon to 5:00 pm. In the event of inclement weather, the King of the Green make-up date is Saturday, November 7.
Evergreen Raceway is located at 183 Mill Mountain Road, St. Johns, Pa. News and information on King of the Green including pre-registration and purse payouts can be found on the official track website at https://www.
