HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. – For the 34th time in his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career, Justin Bonsignore was celebrating in Victory Lane on Saturday night. Bonsignore rocketed to his third win of the season in the Toyota Budweiser Mod Classic 150 – holding off a late charge from Chuck Hossfeld to get back to Victory Lane.

The victory marked an important step in Bonsignore’s final dash attempt to collect a fourth championship this season. Entering the race, Bonsignore was fourth in the standings, but jumped to third following 150 laps. He sits 17 points back of leader Jon McKennedy, with Ron Silk in between the two, heading for the final three races of the season.

“We’ve kind of been like a bunch of brothers that have been giving each other a lot of crap lately,” Bonsignore said of his Ken Massa Motorsports team. “So this is a good medicine to solve that, I think. We’ve been struggling. We hold ourselves to a high standard and it’s been an up-and-down summer. A few issues in the summer put us behind and we haven’t had the speed or consistency week in and week out. We got it good tonight. We’re not out of the points yet – so we’ll move on to Riverhead and see what happens.”

While some others pitted late in the race, Bonsignore and crew chief Ryan Stone made the decision to stay out, then the Holtsville, New York, native bested Chuck Hossfeld to grab the win in the final laps. It was Bonsignore’s second victory at the ‘Steel Palace’ of Oswego, both coming on Classic weekend.

Justin Bonsignore will return to the track on Saturday, September 17 at Riverhead Raceway in New York. The event will mark the first in the history of the Whelen Modified Tour with infield pitting and is set for 256 laps in honor of the late Ed Partridge.
