Wall Township, NJ – Howell, NJ’s James Blewett held off a hard charging Tyler Ferris of Wall, NJ to claim the Sportsman main event win on Pack the Track Night at Wall Stadium on Saturday night, June 6th.

Waretown, NJ’s Chris Lane also found victory lane in the first of two O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock main before Mother Nature settled in and put an end to the racing program with nine laps complete in the Surf Side Collision 4-Cylinder feature.

After setting fast time on the night, Blewett led the field to the green with Waldwick, NJ’s Quinn Trimmer to his outside with Blewett getting the jump in to one and two.

Blewett continued to lead over third starting Ryan Kuhlthau while the previous week’s winner Kevin Davison ran in the third position.

The first caution would fly when Branden Sullivan spun his No. 30 in turns one and two just a few laps in.

Blewett would again lead on the restart while Ferris, who started fourth, took over second from Kuhlthau. Davison would take a shot to the inside of Kuhlthau for the spot but was unable to make it stick.

All the while, Blewett was running away and hiding from the remainder of the field with Ferris doing everything that he could to reel the No. 5 in.

Ferris would get his shot at Blewett after Avery Arthofer spun her No. 77 off the backstretch with just a handful of laps remaining.

On the restart, Blewett would pull away and take the win over Ferris, Kuhlthau, Davison and Trimmer.

In the first of what was scheduled to be Twin 20’s for the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks, Howell, NJ’s Brian Osborn and Nick Bilello fired off from the front row with Osborn getting out front early.

An early race incident took a number of favorites out of contention that included opening night winner John Carpenter, Kevin Kennedy, James Hall IV and John Bowers. Carpenter was able to make repairs under the red flag and keep going.

Chris Lane was the man on the move early and settled into the number two spot behind Osborn with Elliott Wohl, Scott Riggleman and week two winner Bryan O’Shea, who started 10th now in third, fourth and fifth.

Lane would make his move on a restart using the outside groove and move into the race lead while O’Shea worked his way by Wohl and into third.

O’Shea would take second shortly thereafter before one final yellow flew, setting up a green and checker finish.

Lane would get away on the final circuit but O’Shea would reel him in as they got to turns three and four ducking under Lane’s No. 88 in a drag race to the finish.

O’Shea would come up a half car length short of his second straight win while Lane extended his point lead with his first of the season.

Osborn, Wohl, and Bob Anderton rounded out the top five.

Under black skies, the Surf Side 4-Cylinder feature went green with Jalena Carpenter bringing the field down but it wouldn’t last for long as Hazlet, NJ’s Sal Liguori would take over the top spot.

Liguori appeared to be on his way to victory number one on the season when he tangled with a slower car in turns three and four ending his race. While under yellow, the winds picked up and with lightning off in the distance the remainder of the racing program was postponed.

The Surf Side Collision 4-Cylinder feature will resume at a later date from lap nine along with the second O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock main event.
